Human Sculpture Bust – The Scars of Life

Human sculpture bust - Scars of Life

This ceramic human sculpture bust is titled The Scars of Life. The marks on his body represent the battles he’s fought both mentally and physically. He can appear quite solemn on first look but look from below and you’ll see he is smiling with quiet contentment, perhaps proud of his achievements.

The sculpture is very organic and earthy in both texture and colour – almost bridging the gap between nature and humanity.

The bust is hand-built using stoneware clay and glazed in a combination of green and white glazes with brown and grey oxides.

Measuring 25cm high to the top of his head, with a width of 20cm and a depth of 10cm – approximately.

He is a very textured piece with some glazed and some unglazed areas. This is intentional to add interest and depth and to increase the desire to want to explore the texture.
