Spirit of Norfolk
Spirit of Norfolk is a personification of the elemental landscape of North Norfolk. Her form is built from the flint cobbles synonymous with our region, stones that I view as vessels of geological memory, carrying within them millions of years of hidden history and ancestral storytelling.
While her body is rooted in the ancient earth, her hair mimics the restless, churning energy of the North Sea waves. The weathered texture of the glaze reflects the abrasive beauty of salt air and time, blurring the line between the physical land and the spirits that have passed through time.

Horizon I – The Constant Mind
This piece is rather personal to me. It represents my creative, perhaps hyperactive mind and that internal voice that never quite shuts off. It’s always processing, running an internal monologue of opinions, ideas, and endless to-do lists – all while the rest of the body tries to find stillness in an attempt to project a calm, collected front to the world.
The circles represent the never-ending thoughts in the brain, while the stoic face hides the emotion and carries the strength.
It’s also a nod to all those small business owners who wear many hats during the day. To run a business, you don’t just plan and do the job at hand, you have to manage the marketing, the invoicing, the bills, and the accounting. All of this whilst still remembering to pick up the kids, get the shopping, feed the family, and keep up with the household tasks.
He’s open at the top as a way of allowing the thoughts to flourish and would suit a dried flower arrangement.
From my new collection of heads titled “Looking East, Looking West, but Never Looking Back”.
